A fantastic exoskeleton figure from MGBB (http://www.mgbb2005.com/mgbbactionfigure/Home/Home.html) featured on the TOYBOT STUDIOS site.

First, I love the fact that there are obvious found objects on here. The boosters in back to be specific. (From MACROSS) They have always been fun and it's cool to see them used like this.
The figure also makes use of some other items from other figures and the painting and detailing locks them all together brilliantly. The cool, sci fi, clean look is great here. I've seen a lot of bashes that go for the post apocalyptic look and that's all fine and good, but the GHOST IN THE SHELL / Anime cool look works really well for this application. Spraying and painting everything to match is the way to go.
It really looks like some of the classic mobile suit gear as well. Flying power suits that give the wearer more fighting power. AND, there's NO SKIN INVOLVED! She's not wearing a friggin BIKINI under the suit with her breasts waving around in your face! :) While this may give a slight advantage when fighting someone who is easily distracted by the female form, it does NOTHING to protect. Always drove me bonkers seeing that done. Sure, I like the female form, but let's try to focus a bit and pick a genre to work within! heheheh
This is a grand effort from the maker and it looks amazing. It's really inspired me to do another custom kitbash. Maybe something to fight my IRON MAN figure! :)
I think the idea will be to use what i have around the house as the first round of idea items, then MAYBE buying something under $15 at a TOYS R US to round things out if I need something larger. This worked out really well for me PROJECT ROBO (http://www.flickr.com/photos/malcojojo/sets/72157623529074532/) - snagging a silly, kid robot and bashing it up to be a little more sci fi cool. :)
There is a complete breakdown of the process and parts for this figure located here:
