Sea Monkey

Kenny Wong and Ashley Wood do have their way with figures. Yes, at times I have a hard time with the threeA repainting madness. Multiple paint ups of the same figure. They tend to wear out their welcome after a while.

"Here it is in red....yellow.....blue.....camo...."

But, they make cool figures. Damn cool.

The new DAMN COOL! figure they have going is THE SEA MONKEY. This deep dive suit kicks much buttocks. Light on external details, but heavy on style, this figure would be a fantastic addition to my collection! :) Sadly, there still is no release date for it. (Or price)

More great steampunk-like goodness. You get the great bendy arms, air hoses and dive windows. This LONGS to be weathered and detailed. A nice rust or patina would be fantastic on this figure. The inside would be cool to detail out as well. There are multiple pipes, cords and tubes that would add another level of cool if painted. I always freeze up when I think about painting these figures. Especially when you're dropping hundreds of dollars on them.

And, of course, you get the delicious driver for the figure as well. The bikini clad, Ashley Wood special in all her femme fatal glory.

I can see a few downsides with the figure - they must be called out. These are not "action figures". There's not a lot of action here. There will not be action pose possibilities for either of these figures. They are really just art pieces. But, sweeeeeeeet art pieces.

From http://threeawiki.com/Sea_Monkey
"Sea Monkey is a figure created and designed by Kenny Wong, and produced by ThreeA under the Showcase toy line, that marks the first collaboration between Ashley Wood and Kenny Wong. This figure is a part of Kenny's Copperhead-18 universe and features a female pilot named Snowpea who will be Ash's contribution to the product. Although Sea Monkey has been featured at both Hong Kong Venture (2009) and Taipei Toy Festival (also 2009), the figure still has yet to see release."

ToysREvil has a little work in progress video up as well.
