•• This is an overview for my TOMIE character in my Instagram witch story. I've based her on the work of her amazing creator Junji Ito - one of my favorite artists.
My story line started when Kado, Hiroto, and Masami try to battle evil forces in Japan. They are doing well until Masami is captured by one of the entities and they have to battle on their home turf. Cindy tries to see where Kado is because she has not heard from him, but this makes the evil spirits even angrier. Kado and Hiroto manage to get the upper hand, but little do they know that something else latches onto the energy of Masami and Hiroto - Tomie Kawakami.

Kado returns to the United States as Hiroto and Masami try to regroup in Japan.
Tomie is angry that her current man will not help her, so be comes after him and eventually drives him insane to the point where he takes his own life in a grotesque way. The police search and search the area around the man's house, eventually finding what remains of him.
When Tomie finds out Masami and Hiroto have gone to America, she goes to the house of another man that is in love with her - fallen under the same charms and magic that many men do, and demands money from him so she can follow them. When he refuses, she enchants him...and MAKES him give her the money. We see that Tomie is more than just a beauty. She's a monstrous being with two faces.
Happy that she has her money, Tomie returns to her Aunty's house to tell her the amazing news. Tomie sees that her Aunt knows she's a monster and drops the sweet child act. When she tries to influence her Aunt, her Aunt reveals a tattoo that contains a powerful protection spell that drives Tomie away to her room.

Back in the Clairemont River Valley where the main story takes place, we meet Agent Don Mckinney with the FBI. He's investigating the numerous and deadly happenings in the area from missing teens, to strange mental breakdowns after a rock show, to the recent Halloween madness that went on nearby. Don and Darcy's boyfriend Detective Mark Carver know each other - a love hate friendship for sure.
Tomie arrives in the US and seeks out Hiroto and Masami, but their being inside the Moore Estate and under Olivia Moore's Spells of Protection makes it difficult for her to get close or even find their exact location.
Tomie finds out that Don is with the FBI and gets close to him. Don is shocked that she is able to come right up to him without him knowing. As she spends more time with him, she's able to leech from him, learning to speak almost perfect English in mere days...and has Don in love with her just as fast.
Hiroto and Masami can feel Tomie's presence and know she's the one that was stalking them in Japan. Masami puts the recent fight with her sister behind her so they can handle the threat together.
At first, Don welcomes Tomie and her needs, taking her shopping, to dinners, and small trips every day...
...but, eventually he grows tired of Tomie belittling him and her mean spirited comments about him.
He reaches a breaking point and says that he needs time away from Tomie. She's furious with him and storms out, but instead of being happy about it he's driven into a downward spiral of remorse, regret, and being sick that he both wants to be with Tomie and wants NOTHING to do with her. He slowly slips into mental anguish.
Tomie finds that she is not the only magical force in the area. Heather can feel there is something different about Tomie, but Janice can see it for herself.
Don slips into a full nervous breakdown and ends up shooting Tomie is a fit of passionate rage. He knows he's done for if someone finds her, so he uses his FBI training to dispose of the body - chopping her viciously and spreading the parts over miles of area.
Don is unaware just how special Tomie is, however. She has the power to regenerate herself. The smallest bit of her can grow and grow into a full version of Tomie. Her head wakes. Her eyes open. And she remembers...everything...
Don can't get Tomie out of his thoughts. He knows he's done the unspeakable, but doesn't know why.
And Tomie starts her return....
